5 Changes To WWE NXT Roster

With a big night of matches in store for fans of both WWE NXT and TNA Wrestling as the promotions face-off, there could be changes to WWE’s developmental brand after the dust has settled.

Bringing about potential new allegiances and possibly even new champions, by the end of the night there could be a lot of intriguing changes coming to NXT.

Here are five potential changes to WWE NXT roster after the crossover event with TNA Wrestling Showdown.

5. Tony D’Angelo Returns

WWE NXT's Tony D'Angelo

While it seemed as though perhaps D’Angelo had been written off of NXT TV entirely with his The Sopranos style cliffhanger last appearance – it could be that The Don of NXT is headed back to the brand, rather than heading to WWE’s main roster.

It has been recently reported that the former NXT North American Champion wasn’t off of TV due to injury but rather just taking some time off.

After fans caught a glimpse of him in the trailer for the upcoming October 25 NXT premium live event Halloween Havoc – it could be that there are still scores to settle in NXT for Tony D.

Potentially looking to shake things up in his presentation, D’Angelo could end up becoming a foe for the babyface current champ Ricky Saints upon his return to the division.

4. Ethan Page Leaves NXT

While ‘All Ego’ Ethan Page is walking into tonight’s show as the NXT North American Champion, he may not be leaving with the gold.

Set to face off against Mustafa Ali at the NXT/TNA crossover event called Showdown, it could finally be Ali’s time to grasp the NXT North American Championship.

There is a long history with Mustafa Ali and that title that dates back to his WWE release in September 2023 – which came despite the fact he was already scheduled to face Dominik Mysterio and reportedly win at No Mercy.

With Shawn Michaels later spoiling that Ali was intended to win the title in 2023, perhaps he has come back around to claim it now. Potentially spelling the end for Ethan Page in NXT – with his exceptional character work continuing to be touted by fans and peers alike as main roster ready – it could be the end of Page’s title reign and time at the Performance Center.

Boasting a legendary career that spans across multiple decades as well as promotions, there could be one tag team title that Matt & Jeff Hardy capture for the first time.

The NXT Tag Team Championship is on the line when the pair take on Dark State at TNA Showdown in a bout that has been announced to be opening the show.

With the possibility that the Hardy Boyz could be WWE tag team champions again being very exciting, it could be that TNA Showdown sets the tone for a major shift in the overall tag division.

While NXT continues to build up a squad of teams, both WWE Raw and SmackDown teams could get more exposure via a feud with Matt and Jeff Hardy on Tuesday nights.

2. Jordynne Grace Turns Heel

After the dust settled on the team selection for the women’s division battle that is set to rage between Team TNA and Team NXT at Showdown, a very key person was missing.

Jordynne Grace would end up being named the special guest referee for the Survivor Series-style match which could prove to be a test of her alliances. Currently signed to NXT, Grace has a long history in TNA which adds a layer of drama to the match.

Team NXT will be made up of current NXT Women’s Champion Jacy Jayne, Sol Ruca, Jaida Parker, and Lola Vice taking on a few familiar faces.

After the TNA Knockouts Championship was vacated by Ash by Elegance, it was won by NXT star Kelani Jordan who will represent Team TNA along with Jessie McKay, Cassie Lee, and Mara Sade (fka Jakara Jackson) in the match.

1. Return Of Babyface Trick Williams

There is a unique opportunity for fan favorite Trick Williams to flip things back around from the dark side during the NXT vs. TNA Survivor Series-style match for the men’s division.

Unlike Kelani Jordan however who was boosted to Team TNA on behalf of the women’s division as TNA Knockouts Champion, Williams will still be competing for Team NXT but while holding the TNA World Championship.

With the men’s match set to feature team captain Ricky Saints, self proclaimed co-captain Trick Williams, Je’Von Evans and Myles Borne joining forces on behalf of NXT to take on the TNA foursome of Mike Santana, Moose, Leon Slater, and Frankie Kazarian.

Potentially able to prove his loyalty to NXT during the course of the match, Trick could end up showing a bit of his former babyface character before potentially departing for the main roster entirely in the near future.
