A WWE star has been pitched by a Hall of Famer to voluntarily lose to John Cena in Cena’s final match coming up in December.
Cena’s final match will take place on December 13 at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event against the winner of the ongoing ‘Last Time Is Now’ tournament.
The names remaining in the tournament at this point are Carmelo Hayes, Bronson Reed, Finn Balor, Penta, GUNTHER, Jey Uso, LA Knight, Solo Sikoa, Rusev and Sheamus, meaning one of those 10 is set to be Cena’s last opponent.
However, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry has continually pitched for Joe Hendry to be Cena’s final opponent, and is still doing so despite Hendry not being involved in the tournament.
In a new interview with TMZ, Henry pitched for Hendry to come out after Cena’s match against the tournament winner, just to voluntarily lay down and let Cena pin him.
Henry said:
“If it was GUNTHER, I would be satisfied, but I still would want dessert.
“I would want Joe Hendry to come out and say, ‘I didn’t make it in the tournament, but before you leave, I want you to allow me the privilege of being in the ring with you.’
“And when Joe Hendry gets in the ring, you would think that John would be like, ‘Listen man, I’m done, I’ve just had my last match.’ But John is a soldier.
“And I would have Joe Hendry say, ‘John, I don’t wanna fight you, I wanted to have a match with you because I wanted to do this…’
“And have Joe Hendry lay down on the ground on his back and tell John Cena, ‘Cover me, so I can have that I had a match with you and you beat me on my record.’
“When you do things that are emotional and you do things that require heart strings to be pulled, that’s how you make it in wrestling. You have to emotionally affect people. It’s not about being in tight clothes and turning flips. It’s the storytelling.
“That’s what I hope they do. I hope they do something where not just one person is affected by John Cena leaving, but multiple people.”
