WWE Raw Preview – May 7, 2018

How come Andy only passes these off after a lousy PPV? Look, I’m not saying Backlash was inherently bad, I’m just saying most of the smaller PPVs feel phoned in at this point. It was less a backlash and more a slight nudge of the guy who fell asleep on you on the train.

Unless there’s a gimmick match to sustain them, most PPV’s differ little from a decent episode of Raw. That’s especially true since PPVs stopped getting their own custom stages, because LEDs cost most than plywood.

Despite the PPV being about as interesting as tax law, there is some fallout do deal with on Raw.

Big Dog keep Barking

Roman shut Samoa Joe up for a night, so odds are he’ll start howling again on Raw about how his feet touched first. Roman, as ever, should be back in pursuit of Lesner tonight. However, could Braun or Lashley be next up to bat?

Braun keeps getting better in the ring and his popularity makes him someone the company can get behind, unlike this failing four year project their currently agonizingly drawing out. There’s also Bobby Lashley to consider. According the Dave Meltzer, Lashley was under the impression he’d be facing Brock at SummerSlam in August.

This post is from X. Loading it lets X set cookies on your device.

Will the team of Braun and Lashley continue on a path of destruction as Roman tries YET AGAIN to slay the Beast? Or will one of the other big men get a shot? Or should it be a Fatal 4 way at Money in the Bank? What do you want to see happen?

Nia Moving On

With Alexa Bliss injured in her failed rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship, Nia should be looking on to a new #1 Contender. The question is who can step up to the dominant champion?

The most likely candidate would be the leader of the Riot Squad, Ruby Riott. Having just successfully divided and conquered (or rather conquered a divided) Sasha Banks and Bayley, Ruby has some impressive victories under her belt.

Will she use this as leverage for a title shot? If she does will the numbers game be too much for Nia Jax? It’ll be interesting to see how Bailey and Sasha’s feud continues and where they take the rest of the women’s division.

This Ol’ Knee Don’t Curb Stomp Like it Used to.

Seth and The Miz put on the best performance of Backlash, and with that the Miz has lost his rematch and is banished to SmackDown. I’m not gonna lie, the Miz w/o the Intercontinental Title is like peanut butter without jelly. Sure it’s still a sandwich, but there’s something inherently wrong about it.

After burning the house down last night, Rollins will most likely be back selling his knee injury from the PPV. He’ll most likely be continuing his feud with Finn Balor which may produce some of the best matches of the year.

Will Finn make a full heel turn in order to bring down the architect? Could the Demon King succeed where Finn failed? This feud can only get better now that there’s no one else in the mix… someone knock on wood before they add Jindar Mahal.

KO No He Didn’t

Sami and KO seemed a bit off last night. I mean a down right ass whoopin’ will do that to a person, but the two were moments away from coming to blows themselves. Sami wanted to leave, KO wanted to fight, and Sami showed him what a bad idea that was.

What will the fallout from this latest snafu be? Is the “Yep Movement” finally dead? Or will KO be his normal, level-headed self and reconcile with Zayn? Both Zayn and Owens have shown themselves to be individuals out for themselves first, and eventually things thing is destined to implode especially.

Also This Week…
• Finally, a fun PPV is coming up next: Money in the Bank. There’s also potential rumors of a tag team Money in the Bank match as well. Qualifying matches start tonight for the men’s and women’s MitB matches. Look for Elias or Drew McIntyre to destroy Curt Hawkins or Heath Slater to qualify.

• What’s next for the Deleters of Worlds and Rowdy Ronda? Neither of these two popular acts were at the PPV so what’s role will they play tonight on Raw? Will Ronda continue her feud with Mickie James? Will Bray and Matt keep laughing while Vince looks on perplexed?

Cody spends most of his time with his Bray Wyatt body pillow, to which he is common law married. In between working as a radio DJ in Dallas, TX and getting an MA in history Cody managed to invent a Jell-O there simply wasn't room for.
