The August 31 episode of WWE Raw was taped last night (August 28) from the Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio, with full spoilers now emerging from the show.
With the August 28 episode of Friday Night SmackDown pre-taped on Monday (August 24) from Ottawa, Canada, WWE held another double taping of next week’s Raw & SmackDown last night in Cleveland.
The show was headlined by the final of the World Heavyweight Title tournament between brothers Penta & Rey Fenix. The winner of that match will be challenging Roman Reigns for his title in Mexico City on the August 14 episode of WWE Raw.
That wasn’t all that happened during the Raw taping however, as Reigns also made an appearance on the show, an absent WWE star made their return to action, a number one contender’s match took place, and we saw the fallout from Royce Keys and OTM’s attack on The Bloodline, LA Knight and Solo Sikoa last week.

The August 31 episode of WWE Raw kicked off in a similar manner to how last week’s show ended, as Royce Keys and OTM clashed with The Bloodline backstage, only this time Jacob Fatu got involved in the fracas with WWE’s newest faction.
That wasn’t the only backstage incident on the show however, as Solo Sikoa was shown laid out by a mystery assailant during Roman Reigns and LA Knight meeting in the ring.
As well as the aforementioned World Heavyweight Title number one contender’s tournament final, we also saw Dragon Lee become Chad Gable’s next challenger for the Intercontinental Championship as he defeated Ethan Page, while Raquel Rodriguez successfully defended her Women’s Intercontinental Title against Sol Ruca.
Joe Hendry also made his return to WWE Raw for the first time in almost a month as he aided Je’Von Evans in his feud with The Judgment Day’s Dominik Mysterio and JD McDonagh.

Penta defeats Rey Fenix in WWE World Heavyweight Title Number One Contender’s Final to earn shot at Roman Reigns on September 14 WWE Raw in Mexico City.
Roman Reigns confronts Penta after the match to end the show.
Ahead of the taping, Rey Fenix said he would be happy for his brother if he was to become number one contender for Reigns’ title, and that has now come to fruition.
Roman Reigns and Penta have never faced off against one another in their careers, with the latter never before having the chance to challenge for a world championship since arriving in WWE back in January 2025.
A first world title win is something Penta has not been shy in targeting publicly, as back in June, during his run as Intercontinental Champion, the former AEW star promised that he would one day reach that goal in WWE.
