Find out which NXT star had a dark match at the WWE SmackDown taping for the second week in a row last night.
Ahead of last night’s episode of WWE SmackDown (January 12) in Lincoln, Nebraska there was a dark match featuring an NXT star again this week.
A repeat of last Friday’s SmackDown live taping dark match, Gable Steveson took on Cedric Alexander.
For the second week in a row, Steveson claimed a victory over Cedric Alexander.
Fun fact: Gable Steveson remains undefeated in his WWE efforts, as his bout against Baron Corbin at Great American Bash technically ended in a double count out, and he’s won all matches he’s had on the NXT house show circuit.
Booking an NXT talent to beat an established main roster talent, even in a dark match, isn’t something WWE would traditionally do unless there were some big plans for the NXT star, so that would suggest there are high hopes for Steveson.
Meanwhile later on last night’s WWE SmackDown, there was a scary moment that led to a match being stopped due to concern for the wrestlers safety.
