WWE seemingly confirms the in-ring retirements of both Bobby Roode & Titus O’Neil

WWE stars Robert Roode and Titus O'Neil

It looks like both Bobby Roode and Titus O’Neil may be finished with their WWE in-ring careers following an update to the company’s roster.

Both Roode and O’Neil have today been removed from the current active roster page on the official WWE website, and their profiles can now be found in the ‘WWE Alumni’ section of the page.

This comes after both men have had lengthy absences from in-ring competition but have continued working with WWE in different roles.

Bobby Roode excelling in his new position

Bobby Roode’s last match came in June 2022, when he was defeated by Omos at an untelevised WWE live event in Amarillo, Texas.

His last televised match will go down as the 2022 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on SmackDown the night before WrestleMania 38, which was won by Madcap Moss.

Despite never hitting the ultimate highs of becoming a world champion in WWE after his call-up from NXT in 2017, Roode did have a reign with the United States Title, as well as Tag Team Championship runs with Chad Gable and Dolph Ziggler.

However, behind the curtain is where Roode now makes his name, as he is one of the top backstage producers in the company, having worked directly under the tutelage of the accomplished Michael Hayes on some of the biggest storylines and matches of the past few years.

Roode has been a prominent figure in WWE creative meetings too, as seen on the Unreal series on Netflix, so his mind for the business is being put to good use.

Titus O’Neil’s legacy is him falling over, but he now does much more important work

Titus O’Neil has had even longer since his last match than Roode – with a November 2020 bout on Raw against Bobby Lashley going down as O’Neil’s final outing.

O’Neil will be most remembered for one of the most hilarious spontaneous moments in WWE history, when he tripped during his entrance for the Greatest Royal Rumble match in 2018 and ended up slipping and sliding underneath the ring – a moment dubbed Titus Worldslide.

He’s also a former WWE Tag Team Champion alongside Darren Young as the Prime Time Players, and the former leader of Titus Worldwide where he was joined by Apollo Crews and Dana Brooke.

During his absence from in-ring competition, Titus O’Neil has remained under contract with WWE as the company’s Global Ambassador – which means he leads charity initiatives across the world and in the locations that WWE visits.

He’s made occasional appearance as a guest commentator and panelist, as well as making announcements regarding WWE’s charity contributions as they tie into its major events like WrestleMania.

Will they ever wrestle again?

As is always the case in wrestling, you can never say never as far as someone returning after supposedly retiring from the ring.

Titus O’Neil has always kept things open to a possible comeback, but now that he’s off the active WWE roster page, that seems to be further away than ever.

Roode, a couple of years back, revealed that he’d actually been greenlit as far as physically being able to wrestle after a back injury, but he claimed then that wouldn’t be able to return full-time.

But the potential of a one-off final match seems like a possibility given the unceremonious nature of both of their last outings.
