Mike Santana’s contract with TNA Wrestling is reportedly set to expire in July 2026, with WWE previously said to be interested in his signature.
The past few weeks have seen a lot of turnover in TNA Wrestling, with former Impact World Champions Steve Maclin & Tessa Blanchard both exiting the company, as well as Myla Grace and TNA head of creative Tommy Dreamer.
While former Knockouts Champion Tasha Steelz has also recently re-signed with the company, the future of reigning TNA World Champion Mike Santana is looking uncertain heading into one of its biggest pay-per-view events of the year: Slammiversary 2026.
On June 28, Santana will defend the TNA World Title against Nic Nemeth, and according to PWInsider, his TNA contract is set to expire sometime the following month in July.
It’s not known when exactly in July Santana would become a free agent, but it has previously been reported that WWE have an interest in signing him.
Santana has been one of the most featured TNA talents on WWE TV since NXT’s partnership with TNA Wrestling began, wrestling six separate times, including challenging Trick Williams for the TNA World Title on June 3, 2025 and representing TNA in its Survivor Series style elimination match win over Team NXT at WWE NXT Showdown on October 7.
As has been the case across the board with the TNA roster in 2026 in comparison to 2025, Santana hasn’t had much of a presence in WWE this year, but he did team with OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima) against DarkState on the March 31 episode of NXT at The Theater in Madison Square Garden.
We will provide any further updates on Mike Santana’s TNA contract as they become available.
A Return To WWE NXT? Or Will WWE’s Main Roster Be Mike Santana’s Destination?
With WWE NXT losing Trick Williams, Oba Femi, Joe Hendry, Ricky Saints and Ethan Page to Raw or SmackDown, the arrival of Mike Santana could provide the brand a major shot in the arm heading into the second half of the Summer.
That’s not to say there isn’t promise in the brand’s young rising talent such as Kam Hendrix and Jackson Drake, or new free agent signings Mason Rook or Naraku, but Mike Santana is someone who has more name recognition and pedigree in the United States wrestling scene.
Alternatively, Santana could follow fellow AEW alum Royce Keys and get hot-shotted straight to Raw or SmackDown, where he could slot in immediately in the United States or Intercontinental Title pictures.
While WWE have changed the names of many of their new signings, fans will also be hoping that Santana can retain his name, presentation and entrance music from his time in TNA, something they have done for the likes of Ethan Page and Joe Hendry in recent years.
WWE may have a slight uphill battle in getting Santana over with the main roster audience off the bat, much like they have done with Keys, but like the former Powerhouse Hobbs, if they keep the Santana’s character down to earth and representative of his background, they should have another top babyface on their hands.
