NJPW has paid tribute to WWE star AJ Styles following his official retirement on this week’s episode of Raw.
The February 23 episode of WWE Raw saw a tribute to AJ Styles, with the star being revealed as the latest inductee in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Triple H would comment on Styles as a Hall of Fame inductee, with NJPW now adding their tribute to the many shared on social media.
In two posts on Instagram, NJPW shared a match suggestion and a photo of Styles as IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
The photo can be seen below this news story, with a separate post on Instagram featuring a match suggestion from Wrestle Kingdom 10, specifically.
Congratulating AJ Styles, NJPW wrote:
“If you haven’t watched AJ Styles vs Shinsuke Nakamura at Wrestle Kingdom 10, do yourself a favor and watch it now on @njpwworld_official.
“Congratulations to The Phenomenal One.”
Wrestle Kingdom 10 took place on January 4, 2016 and would see Shinsuke Nakamura retain the IWGP Intercontinental Championship against AJ Styles.
Later that month, it would be confirmed that Styles had signed with WWE, with his in-ring career coming to an end with a loss to GUNTHER at the Royal Rumble in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on January 31 this year.
Styles signed an NJPW contract in early 2014 and would go on to be a member of Bullet Club, leading the faction the following year and becoming a two-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion.
