With his second successful title defence of his current reign, plans for MJF’s run as AEW World Champion have been revealed.

Just two days later, MJF once again defended the championship, this time against Alec Price at the Limitless Rumble.

With yet another victory under his belt, plans for MJF’s championship reign were revealed in the recent Wrestling Observer Daily Update.

According to their sources, MJF is set to continue to defend his title on independent wrestling shows.

Dave Meltzer reports:

“The storyline is that MJF will be defending his title on independent shows which he claimed puts him in the calibre of touring world champions like Ric Flair, Harley Race and Buddy Rogers.”

MJF has since taken to Twitter to clarify that he will only be making independent appearances if he feels there’s someone worth showcasing, writing:

Hate to break it to ya.

But I’m not sure I’m gonna do many more of those unless I feel like someone is worth my time.

Not sorry.

The star is a former Limitless World Champion, having held the title for 181 days until September 2019, having signed with AEW earlier that year.

Price and Jordan Oliver were both declared ‘All Elite’ by MJF during his appearance at Limitless Wrestling, confirming that they are now signed with AEW.
