WWE championship plans for John Cena’s final match ever have been discussed, ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13.
It was previously reported that GUNTHER is expected to be John Cena’s opponent for the 17-time world champion’s retirement match.
Per Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there is a possibility that this bout will be a championship match, with creative discussions regarding Cena potentially winning the Intercontinental Championship recently taking place.
Dave Meltzer now reports:
“The idea of Cena winning the IC title from Dominik (the match right now is at Survivor Series) and it being in play for the final match with Gunther has been discussed”
Dominik Mysterio’s WWE Intercontinental Championship is the last title John Cena needs to win to be considered an official Grand Slam winner, with the IC belt eluding Cena for over two decades.
John Cena last wrestled at Crown Jewel, defeating AJ Styles in a highly-celebrated match on October 11.
