A current AEW name has commented on WWE shouting out Sting’s retirement match at AEW Revolution on this week’s Raw show.
The legendary career of WWE Hall of Famer Sting came to an end at Revolution, when he and Darby Allin defeated the Young Bucks in the show’s main event.
Many wrestling companies paid their tributes to Sting following the match, including him getting a shoutout on the following night’s episode of Raw from Michael Cole and Pat McAfee.
Speaking on What Happened When, AEW’s Tony Schiavone spoke about the shoutout from WWE to Sting on Raw.
He said:
“Pretty cool thing, but the right thing to do.”
When noted that the current WWE regime may have more respect for wrestling and history than the previous regime, Schiavone agreed.
He said:
“Exactly.”
Tony Khan has called Sting’s retirement match the ‘end of an era’ for AEW, with the new era set to begin on tonight’s (March 6) episode of the show, featuring a new logo and set.
