Following their collective exit from WWE earlier this year, some members of the Wyatt Sicks could be about to find a new home.
In April of this year, WWE released a number of stars, including all the members of Wyatt Sicks.
With Uncle Howdy, Dexter Lumis, Joe Gacy, Nikki Cross and Erick Rowan now all no longer under contract with WWE, their future could an arrival in TNA Wrestling.
The Takedown on SI reports that “TNA Wrestling has expressed serious interest in bringing in multiple members of the Wyatt Sicks”, although no names would be given or any detail of how far along negotiations are, if any have taken place thus far.
With five stars to choose from, let’s take a look at who is the best fit for a future in TNA Wrestling:
Uncle Howdy
Previously Bo Dallas, the real-life Taylor Rotunda kicked off his wrestling career back in 2008, signing a WWE developmental contract. His release would bring to an end a seventeen-year run that would see him as a former Raw Tag Team Champion and NXT Champion.
The longest-tenured member of the faction, Rotunda has a lot of potential as a star, being a capable in-ring talent and entertaining mic worker, as he demonstrated as both Dallas and Howdy.
Dexter Lumis
On the independent scene as Samuel Shaw, the former Dexter Lumis continues to have a chilling presence that has earned him a fanbase.
The star has a history in TNA Wrestling, having debuted there back in August 2010, eventually morphing into his Samuel Shaw persona, akin to Patrick Bateman from American Psycho.
The former Lumis also has a history with Indi Hartwell, currently a TNA Knockout, with the pair having got married on NXT back in September 2021 as part of their highly entertaining storyline.
Joe Gacy
Another star with a darker edge that was never fully realized in WWE, Joe Gacy can be found on the independent wrestling scene as Joseph Sawyer, with a recent outing seeing a victory over Samuel Shaw at GCW, retaining the World Championship.
A leader in NXT (of Schism) and a follower on the main roster (as a member of Wyatt Sicks), the star rarely got to show the charisma that he brought to his work during his last (just under) two years in WWE, something that could be brought to the fore in TNA Wrestling.
Erick Rowan
Currently Erick Redbeard on the independent scene, the imposing star was first released from a WWE contract in April 2020 due to COVID-19 related budget cuts, returning in 2023 and joining the Wyatt Sicks.
A former NXT Tag Team Champion and SmackDown Tag Team Champion with Luke Harper (the late Brodie Lee), Harper would also hold the latter with Daniel Bryan.
Perhaps AEW would be a better home for a star the stature of a 6 ft 8 in former Erick Rowan.
Nikki Cross
Since parting ways with WWE, Cross has returned to her Nikki Storm name and acquired PROGRESS Wrestling in the United Kingdom, alongside her real-life husband known to WWE fans as Killian Dane.
Storm continues to feature on the independent wrestling scene, with The Odyssey Tour for PROGRESS marking a string on in-ring encounters for the former WWE star.
Prior to signing with WWE, the star competed in TNA British Boot Camp 2 in 2014, although was unsuccessful, with the series being won by Mark Andrews, who went on to sign a contract before eventually landing in NXT UK.
A wild-eyed star who plays into her 5 ft height with feisty perfection, Cross may fit into the Knockouts division, although could also parlay her ownership of PROGRESS Wrestling into a producer/scout role for TNA Wrestling.
Sign On The Dotted Line
For any released star, there must be a temptation to sign on the dotted line when a televised company comes knocking, yet it may not be the best move.
For stars like the former New Day, now in AEW as New Level, a prominent push is pretty much guaranteed, yet that is unlikely to be the case for every talent signing a deal outside of WWE. Getting a feeling of how the star could be used going forward has to be a factor into any decision, alongside the compensation for services rendered.
