Former WWE Raw star Grayson Waller currently holds the NXT Championship, winning the title in a four-way bout at NXT Heatwave.
With Waller already reaping rewards from his return to WWE’s developmental brand, there has been some specuation about other main roster names potentially joining him in NXT.
If Grayson Waller is able to defend his gold against Mason Rook, there are numerous Raw and SmackDown stars who we could see confront the former WWE Tag Team Champion next.
Here are three main roster stars who could face NXT Champion Grayson Waller.
Austin Theory
Following their history together as A-Town Down Under, an Austin Theory vs Grayson Waller clash would definitely get fans talking.
Both Theory and Waller have made numerous references to their former partnership and have fired indirect shots at one another, but have yet to face off since last teaming in June 2025.
With Waller throwing shade on Theory during his viral NXT return promo in July, it would make sense to have the Vision faction member pay a visit to the Performance Center to confront his former tag partner.
While Austin Theory currently holds the World Tag Team Championship with Bron Breakker, we could see the former US Champion vie for the NXT Title as a way to bring singles gold back to his faction.
Kyoki
Kyoki made his WWE debut on the main roster, with the former “Hiromu Takahashi” skipping NXT to form a tag-team with Shinsuke Nakamura on SmackDown.
While Kyoki is officially a member of the blue brand’s roster, an NXT Championship program against Grayson Waller would be a way for the Japanese star to still experience a short run at the Performance Center.
With Kyoki’s former Los Ingobernables de Japon teammate Naraku (EVIL in NJPW) also in NXT, a visit to WWE’s developmental division would also allow the former IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion to reunite with a former tag partner.
While Kyoki and Nakamura are currently chasing the WWE Tag Team Championship, the NXT Title could be the recent signee’s first championship victory in WWE.
Je’Von Evans
With Je’Von Evans’ previous run on NXT, and his current popularity on Raw, it can be easy to forget that the 22-year old has yet to win a single championship in WWE.
Similar to Grayson Waller’s current run, we could see Evans return to NXT in an attempt to win the brand’s top prize for the first time.
Je’Von Evans has stated that he is locked in and focused on becoming the youngest Intercontinental and world champions in WWE history, but while he waits for both divisions to quieten, he could pick up more experience in the NXT Championship scene.
With a former Raw star in Grayson Waller holding the NXT Championship, the rising star who eventually defeats the Aussie will have proven themselves as a top prospect.
