On the September 28 edition of Monday Night Raw, Rey Fenix announced that he planned on defending his AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on any brand moving forward.
Specifically wanting to defend the gold on the red brand, there should be a few stars who could gun for Fenix in the near future.
From former Cruiserweight Champions to red hot names on the roster, there is a ton of potential for some showstealers with Fenix defending his title on Monday nights.
Here are four WWE Raw stars to potentially challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Dragon Lee
On the August 24 episode of WWE Raw, Rey Fenix defeated Dragon Lee to advance to the World Heavyweight Championship #1 Contender’s tournament finals.
This match proved to be a showstealing encounter that was among the best of the entire tournament.
Dragon Lee has challenged for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship earlier this year.
However, Lee’s recent efforts may gain him another opportunity against Fenix before long.
Akira Tozawa
Back in 2017, Akira Tozawa became one of the most featured stars in the WWE Cruiserweight division.
This led to Tozawa defeating the late Neville to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
While this reign was short-lived, Tozawa proved that he could be a champion among the Cruiserweights.
Now all these years later, Tozawa could be next in line to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on Monday Night Raw.
JD McDonagh
JD McDonagh has been one of the only members of The Judgment Day to not win singles gold.
Back on the July 31 edition of Friday Night SmackDown, McDonagh challenged Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship.
Despite coming up short here, McDonagh might need another opportunity against the luchador.
Fenix defending the title against JD McDonagh could make for an intriguing defense considering The Judgment Day might get involved.
Je’Von Evans
Je’Von Evans has become one of the fastest rising stars on the Monday Night Raw roster.
“The Young OG” has been on the hunt for his first singles title in WWE since signing in 2024.
Despite consistently being in title contention, Evans has failed in every one of his championship matches to this point of his WWE run.
Considering his recent success, Evans might finally be ready to win some gold and could be next in line to challenge Rey Fenix for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship soon.
