AEW has put a greater focus on tag team wrestling throughout 2025, with both the men’s and women’s divisions seeing the benefits.

The men’s tag team scene has delivered some of the best matches of the entire year with the likes of FTR, The Young Bucks and Brodido being standouts from the promotion.

Looking to further establish the company as being specialists in all tag team wrestling, the company has also introduced AEW Women’s Tag Team Championships with a tournament deciding the first ever titleholders.

When looking at the free agency market, here are seven new AEW tag team signings to potentially debut soon.

7. The Righteous (Vincent & Dutch)

The Righteous signed with All Elite Wrestling in 2023 and had a two-year run where they became regulars on Ring of Honor television.

However, the duo decided to request and were granted their release from AEW, becoming free agents in May 2025.

Vincent and Dutch have unique and eccentric characters that always find a way to stand out from the pack regardless of the promotion they are in.

After several months on the free agency market, The Righteous and AEW might decide to give it another go where the company should have a better plan to feature this unconventional tandem.

6. Hyan & Maya World

After Nixon Newell and Miranda Alize decided to walk out of AEW Collision in November, it was Hyan and Maya World who stepped up and took their place in a match against TayJay.

This led to Maya and Hyan once again being featured on AEW Collision where they had a more competitive match against Alex Windsor and Riho.

Now with reports of AEW having interest in signing the pair, fans could see a more pronounced push for the two independent stars.

Taking two young and motivated competitors like Hyan and Maya World could create a compelling underdog duo for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title picture.

5. Lacey Lane & Kacy Catanzaro

WWE stars Kayden Carter and Katana Chance

On the Title Tuesday special of AEW Dynamite, Lacey Lane made her AEW debut in a loss to Mercedes Moné for the TBS Championship.

Over a month after this loss it was revealed that Lane had signed with All Elite Wrestling and is set to be a full-time performer.

Lane was previously known as Kayden Carter and is a former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion alongside Katana Chance, real name Kacy Catanzaro.

Having the pair of Lane and Catanzaro enter the newly christened AEW Women’s Tag Team Title picture would provide a duo with experience that could help the other tag teams around them.

The IInspiration made a name for themselves in the pro wrestling business for WWE as The IIconics.

In June 2025, Cassie Lee and Jess McKay made their return to TNA Wrestling and have since become the new Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

Following TNA Bound For Glory 2025, it was revealed that The IInspiration were working with the company without a contract.

With the ongoing AEW Women’s Tag Team Title Tournament, the company should bring in an experienced tandem like The IInspiration into the promotion to add some veterans to the division.

3. The Skyscrapers (Donovan Dijak & Bishop Dyer)

Former WWE stars Dijak and Bishop Dyer (Baron Corbin)

Two of the more surprising WWE releases or departures over the past two years had to have been Donovan Dijak and Baron Corbin.

Both men did not rest on their laurels in the least bit and decided to hit the independent scene, becoming two of the most sought after free agents around the world.

While Dijak has gone back to his roots, Corbin has reinvented himself as Bishop Dyer. Both stars headed to Major League Wrestling where they formed The Skyscrapers and won the MLW Tag Team Championships.

The Skyscrapers could make their way to AEW where they could give the tag team scene a powerful pairing of two monsters who can dominate any other duo in front of them.

2. The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)

Former WWE stars

Back in 2021, The Good Brothers were part of TNA Wrestling when they arrived in All Elite Wrestling and joined forces with Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks to form The Super Elite.

Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows are one of the most decorated tag teams currently in the industry today, winning gold in WWE, TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Since leaving WWE in February 2025, The Good Brothers have been travelling all over the world and working with several different promotions.

The Good Brothers signing with AEW could see them once again joining up with The Elite or even feuding with them in a high profile feud down the line.

1. Shotzi Blackheart & Scarlett

In May, it was revealed that Shotzi Blackheart was leaving WWE after her contract expired.

Not wasting any time, Blackheart made her return to the independent scene and has made her presence felt in places, such as GCW and MLW.

Shotzi has even formed a tag team with her real life friend and fellow former WWE star Scarlett, who is stepping into the ring after mostly being featured as a manager alongside her husband Karrion Kross.

Shotzi and Scarlett could become a wonderful addition to the AEW Women’s Tag Team Title scene and add their dark, crazed personas to the division.
