Former WWE Tag Teams To Join AEW

AEW has started 2026 with several free agents signing with the promotion to kick off the new year.

While the likes of The Rascalz, Jake Doyle and Zayda Steel have joined the company, there could be some former WWE tag teams that also sign in the weeks and months to come.

Whether it be former champions or duos who never truly got their opportunity in WWE, these new additions to the AEW roster could bring something new and different to the company moving forward.

Here are six former WWE tag teams to potentially join AEW.

6. The IInspiration (Cassie Lee & Jess McKay)

On the January 15 AMC premiere edition of TNA Thursday Night IMPACT, The Elegance Brand defeated The IInspiration to win the TNA Knockouts World Tag Team Championships.

Following this loss, it was revealed that The IInspiration were leaving TNA Wrestling following their contracts expiring at the end of 2025.

Cassie Lee and Jess McKay have been one of the most prominent female tag teams in all of wrestling for the past several years and would make for a wonderful addition to AEW right now.

With the introduction of AEW Women’s Tag Team Titles at the end of 2025, it makes sense for the company to sign The IInspiration and bring them in to bolster their tag scene in a major way.

5. Authors of Pain (Akam & Rezar)

WWE tag team the Authors of Pain

Back in February 2025, Authors of Pain were released from WWE, ending their second stint with the promotion.

The duo of Akam and Rezar accomplished a lot across two stints with the company, including being former NXT and Raw Tag Team Champions.

Bringing something new to the AEW tag team division, The Authors of Pain could be a pair of brutes that run through any obstacle in their way.

The Authors of Pain signing with AEW could see them taking over the entire tag scene and potentially capture gold in the company in short order.

4. The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows)

Former WWE stars Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows

Back in 2021, The Good Brothers made several appearances on AEW television as part of the TNA Wrestling roster.

One of the most decorated tag teams in all of pro wrestling today, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have made a name for themselves in several different promotions.

Winning tag team gold in New Japan Pro Wrestling, TNA and WWE, The Good Brothers could check All Elite Wrestling off their bucket list by signing with the company.

Considering their relationship with The Elite and other individuals inside the company, The Good Brothers signing seems like a no-brainer move that could help to further establish a new landscape for the AEW tag team division.

3. Gallus (Wolfgang, Joe & Mark Coffey)

During the latest round of WWE talent cuts in May 2025, Gallus left the company after six years with the promotion.

Wolfgang, Joe and Mark Coffey became one of the most prominent units on the NXT UK and NXT brands.

Winning tag gold on both brands, Gallus stood on top on several occasions and more than cemented themselves on WWE NXT.

While they were recently announced for the upcoming MLW Battle Riot event on January 29, Gallus could come into AEW and potentially find a similar significant role in Tony Khan’s promotion.

2. Shotzi Blackheart & Priscilla Kelly

Another pair of recent WWE released stars who could make their way to All Elite Wrestling are Shotzi Blackheart and Priscilla Kelly.

During their time on WWE NXT, Shotzi and the then-Gigi Dolin formed an alliance with Tatum Paxley known as “Chemical X.”

Since both ladies left WWE in May 2025, Priscilla Kelly and Shotzi Blackheart have become embroiled in a rivalry on the independent scene, especially in Game Changer Wrestling.

Shotzi and Priscilla Kelly could now find their place in AEW where they recently introduced the Women’s Tag Team Championships and could introduce “Chemical X” to their audience to challenge Babes of Wrath for the titles.

1. Ronda Rousey & Shayna Baszler

On a similar note to Chemical X, there are other former WWE women’s tag teams that could make their way to All Elite Wrestling.

With the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Titles introduced, the division needs some necessary star power.

There might not two bigger stars to add to the AEW women’s tag team scene quite like Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler.

Bringing two of the MMA Four Horsewomen, Rousey and Baszler could become the biggest duo in the women’s tag team division of AEW where they have what it takes to dominate anyone they face.
