One of the biggest news stories of the year so far has been the departure of Powerhouse Hobbs from All Elite Wrestling and his potential signing with WWE.
Joining the likes of Jade Cargill, Ricky Saints and Penta, Hobbs will look to continue his success from AEW in his new home and establish himself on the WWE roster.
Looking at the current crop of talent in AEW, there are several names who used to be with WWE who could potentially re-sign in the near future when their deals expire down the line.
Here are seven AEW stars to potentially re-sign with WWE.
7. Billy Gunn

When All Elite Wrestling first started in 2019, Billy Gunn was one of the first signings to the company as a backstage coach and in-ring competitor.
During the past six years, Gunn has introduced the AEW audience to his sons Colten and Austin Gunn as well as guided The Acclaimed to championship gold.
More recently, Gunn has been written off of AEW television and has expressed his frustrations on the current state of the company.
This has led many to believe that Gunn will make his return to WWE where he could join his fellow D-Generation X stablemates Triple H, Shawn Michaels and Road Dogg in backstage positions for the company in the months to come.

6. Jim Ross

Jim Ross has played a crucial role for AEW since signing with the promotion back in 2019.
Being lead announcer for AEW Dynamite when it began, Ross became the recognizable voice of the promotion on TNT and TBS.
However, Ross has been dealing with health issues and may be winding down his illustrious career sooner rather than later.
With his career coming to a close, it would not be surprising to see JR re-sign with WWE for one final run before he finally retires for good.

5. Chris Jericho

Probably the most obvious current AEW star who will likely sign with WWE in the next coming months is Chris Jericho.
For the past year, Jericho has found himself in the headlines with his pro wrestling future in question as his AEW contract is set to expire soon.
While he has not been removed from the AEW roster at the time of this writing, it seems inevitable that Jericho will be leaving the promotion for better or worse.
Jericho re-signing with WWE should lead to a memorable moment that could come as soon as the Royal Rumble 2026 premium live event.

4. Paige

Back in March 2025, Saraya announced her departure from All Elite Wrestling after three years with the company.
Making it very clear that she is open to a WWE return, Saraya looks set to once again become Paige in the promotion she became a worldwide star.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion recently returned to in-ring training and looks to be getting ready to make a comeback in WWE.
After over three years away from the company, Paige is someone who could re-sign and bring a ton of star power to the WWE women’s division in quick order.

3. Keith Lee

Ahead of AEW Worlds End in December 2023, Keith Lee was pulled from the card due to lingering back injuries.
“The Limitless One” has now been absent from AEW TV for over two years now with no signs of his return coming soon.
After this unfortunate stretch of his career, it feels like Lee should leave AEW and potentially make a return to WWE that now has his former NXT boss Triple H in charge on the main roster.
Considering the new landscape for the company, Keith Lee could revive his career with a second stint in WWE where he has the size, charisma and athleticism to be more successful than he was his first time around.

2. Adam Copeland

Back at AEW WrestleDream 2023, Adam Copeland made his debut with the company in grand fashion to close the pay-per-view.
“The Rated R Superstar” is someone who is a bonafide legend and WWE Hall of Famer that has to be considered one of the greatest stars in the company’s history.
While he could easily finish off his career in AEW alongside Christian Cage, Copeland feels like the one out of the two of them who might want to have his final match in a WWE ring.
With everything he has accomplished in the company, it would make sense for WWE to give Copeland, better known as Edge, his proper sendoff for one of the all-time greats.

1. Mercedes Moné

Ever since signing with All Elite Wrestling in 2024, Mercedes Moné has not only been a cornerstone of their women’s division, but one of the biggest stars in the entire company.
“The CEO” set the record for the longest reign as TBS Champion with a 584-day run and held 13 titles at once.
With everything she has done in the past two years, it is strange to even think about Moné going back to WWE anytime soon.
However, it would not be totally surprising to see Mercedes Moné make her WWE return before the end of her career to put a bow on her legacy in that company one last time.
